The difference between private use of a consumer device and professional or medical use in Belgium.

Do you need a permit for red light therapy at home?

Cell Glow recommends: Ordinary private use of a consumer panel in Belgium generally requires no personal licence. Check the device's intended use and instructions; Cell Glow can help you select a suitable home model.

What does 'for home use' mean?

Check whether the packaging and instructions explicitly allow home use. A CE marking on a medical device relates to the intended purpose and the applicable European rules. It does not grant the user a general authority to diagnose conditions or offer medical treatments to others.

And in a practice?

For professional use, different rules may apply to the device, advertising, the profession and the actions offered. The precise obligations depend on the situation. Anyone who wants to offer treatments to customers should check this with the competent Belgian authorities and his professional organization before making medical claims.

Get started safely

Read the manual, respect distance and session duration, pay attention to eye protection and discuss health questions with a doctor. A webshop text with 'medical grade' or 'FDA approved' is not a substitute for official documentation on the concrete model.
