Cell Glow recommends: For seasonal depression, choose a daylight lamp intended for that use, not a red light panel as a substitute. A Cell Glow panel can be part of a separate RLT routine, but must not delay needed care for mood symptoms.
What is the standard for seasonal complaints?
The American National Institute of Mental Health describes a daylight lamp of approximately 10,000 lux for winter pattern SAD, usually in the morning for 30 to 45 minutes. That protocol is designed for exposure to bright light through the eyes and the day-night rhythm. A red panel provides a different light quality and is used for different purposes.
Can red light improve your mood after all?
A pleasant wellness routine may subjectively feel good, but that is not proof that red light treats seasonal depression. Research into specific brain or light protocols is not directly applicable to a consumer panel. Depressive complaints deserve a correct diagnosis and appropriate care.
When to seek help?
If sadness, sleep or functioning clearly deteriorate, discuss this with a doctor or psychologist. Also ask for advice before using a daylight lamp for certain eye diseases or light-sensitive medication. Choose the light source based on the condition, not on color preference.
