Will a Cell Glow panel clear melasma? We cannot promise that. Small studies have tested different light treatments, but they do not show that a home panel removes melasma. If pigment is your main concern, start with a diagnosis and treatment plan from a dermatologist.
What is melasma?
Melasma is persistent hyperpigmentation, usually on the face. Sunlight and visible light can maintain or worsen it. Sun protection does matter: in a randomized trial of 68 patients, protection against both UV and visible light improved treatment more than UV protection alone.
What do light studies show?
A small 2025 pilot trial tested amber light in 21 women but found no convincing difference in melasma scores. Studies of medical lasers, amber light or combinations use different wavelengths, doses and devices from a Cell Glow panel. They cannot establish a panel claim.
What should you do?
- Use broad-spectrum sunscreen daily; a tinted product that also protects against visible light can be useful.
- Have new or changing spots checked and discuss established options with a dermatologist.
- Using RLT for another well-supported goal? Watch your skin and stop if pigmentation increases.
Cell Glow offers adjustable RLT panels for a range of skin and body uses. We can help choose settings, but do not present melasma as a proven indication.
