Can you use red light therapy too often? Side effects and limits

Cell Glow recommends: Use RLT consistently but not without limits: follow the instructions for your Cell Glow model and do not increase time or intensity by guesswork. More light does not automatically improve results; stop and review settings if you develop irritation or symptoms.

What can you notice?

Short-term redness, feeling of warmth or skin irritation are reported. Bright light can be unpleasant for the eyes. A reaction depends on skin sensitivity, medication, distance, intensity and duration. If you experience pain, dizziness or persistent skin reaction, stop and ask for advice. Do not look into the LEDs and use the prescribed eye protection.

Why is more not better?

Research into photobiomodulation describes a non-linear dose response: a higher dose can level off a beneficial effect. That is not a simple universal limit in minutes, because devices provide different amounts of light. So do not double the session duration yourself because you will not notice much after a few days.

Who asks for advice in advance?

For light-sensitive conditions, use of photosensitizing medication, eye diseases or unclear complaints, prior medical advice is wise. Do not use light to delay a diagnosis or standard treatment.
